The Contender 2 Winner Is Grady Brewer

Ini adalah artikel yang aku dapat dari RealityTVmagazine, about The Contender.
In the Contender 2 Finale, the bronze metal bout pits together Norberto Bravo and Cornelius "K9" Bundrage. Before the fight, Storm Large from Rock Star Supernova sings the national anthem. In round one, very few punches are landed, but K9 lands the majority of them. In round two, K9 scores a knockdown on Bravo. In rounds three, four and five, K9 continues to control the fight. In round six, K9 loses a point for shoving. In round seven, the referee stops the fight. The winner by knockout is Cornelius "K9" Bundrage.
The main event pits Steve Forbes against Grady Brewer. In round one, Brewer takes the early lead in punches landed. In round two, Brewer continues to dominate the fight. In round three, Forbes starts to mount a comeback. In round four, it's too close to call. In round five, the pace picks up and Brewer comes out on top. In round six, Brewer takes a close round. In round seven, Forbes takes a close round. In round eight, Brewer takes another close round. In round nine, Brewer lands several solid punches. In round ten, it’s too close to call.
By split decision, Grady Brewer wins the Contender 2 title. Brewer wins $500,000 and a new Toyota Tundra truck. Sugar Ray Leonard congratulates Brewer and presents him with the Contender title belt. Grady Brewer says "I want to establish myself in boxing because I've never had the opportunity. Thanks to the Contender."
Yahoooo.... puas hati aku. Grady Brewer jadi juara The Contender Season 2 ni. Forbes minggu lepas pun menang nasib jer lawan K9. Yesss, berjaya gak underdog jadi juara tahun ni. Cuba bayangkan Brewer yang underdog tu berjaya menewaskan Forbes, a 29-year-old former IBF super featherweight champion and natural junior lightweight . Tapi The Contender season 2 tahun ni agak hambar.

Nak ngelayo pegi shopping complex tu, kena tunggu nak dekat bulan Syawal kelak. Lagipun aku ni pun bukan jenis kaki jalan . Kalau ada member bawa jalan baru aku keluar rumah. Kalau tak, tengok TV lah jawabnya.

Hari pertama puasa dah pekena ikan terubok goreng serta telur sekali. Puiiihhh...sedap wo, Wa cakap lu... tapi aku rendam dulu ikan ngan telur terubok tu lama sikit kat air paip, agar kurang rasa masinnya, baru aku goreng.

Jangan-jangan pegi Lawas.....

The Contender - Final Two Are Steve Forbes & Grady Brewer

Sugar Ray Leonard congratulates the remaining boxers on reaching the final four and shows them a tribute to the boxers they have fought and defeated. Sugar Ray tells the final four that they will all be receiving Polaroid plasma TVs. In a Contender double header, Steve Forbes fights Cornelius "K9" Bundrage and Norberto Bravo fights Grady Brewer.
The first match is between Steve Forbes and Cornelius "K9" Bundrage. In the first round, K9 leads a fairly slow paced round. In the second round, the pace picks up and Steve takes the round. In the third round, K9 once again comes out on top. In the fourth round, Steve knocks K9 into the ropes with a flurry of punches. In the fifth round, Steve finishes strong, but it is still close. The winner by unanimous decision is Steve Forbes.
The second match is between Norberto Bravo and Grady Brewer. In the first round, Norberto knocks Grady down. In the second round, Grady battles back and lands several solid punches. In the third round, it is close, but Grady comes out slightly ahead. In the fourth round, it is once again almost to close to call. In the fifth round, both boxers give it their all in yet another close round. The winner by majority decision is Grady Brewer.

Btw : What's all the Hype about Forbes? He displayed a very poor performance against my man K9 . Is this what you call a contender? Please! K9 clearly won that fight.I just hope you dont steal the fight from my man Grady.Let's keep it real!

Ambal (Bamboo Clams)

Teringat pulak masa pegi fieldtrip kat Asajaya Laut, Kpg. Buntal dan Kpg. Bako pada 8,9 dan 10 September lepas... Seminggu sebelum aku pegi Balai Ringin. Panas memanjang. Sampai nak demam aku dibuatnya. Nasib ada bawak bekal ubat untuk aku. Aku kalau part berpanas ni, kalah sikit.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ambal is the local Malay name for the bamboo clam, also known by a variety on nicknames, including sea needle and even (rather imaginatively) monyet punya, a coy reference to the male monkey's pride and joy.
The appearance of ambal, as described above, is not exactly confidence-inspiring. Freshly steamed, these tubular molluscs expand in their reed-like shells (hence the name bamboo clam) and burst them, leaving their bloated little bodies arrayed amongst a bed of shell slivers and fragments. But appearances can be very deceptive. In both taste and texture, ambal is unique. A distant relative of the mussel, it has a delicate, almost fish-like flavour and a texture closest to a slightly undercooked scallop.
This humble creature is found all over Southeast Asia, but is at its best in Sarawak, where its preparation has been elevated to an art form. Bamboo clams live in countless millions in the mad-flats of the Sarawak River estuary, where they filter the freshly deposited alluvial mud and sand for micro-nutrients like most shellfish. Their long, tubular shells can be anything between three and fifteen centimetres long, and they are able to stretch their flexible bodies much further out of the shell to suck in food particles. Sarawak's relative lack of industry (particularly the kind of industry that dumps heavy metals into rivers), means the local bamboo clams have a pristine environment in which to thrive. It also means they are untainted and very safe to eat, a claim that cannot always be made for shellfish in Asia.

Fieldtrip to Balai Ringin , Serian.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Masa untuk update blog... hantujeraul baru jer balik dari fieldtrip Balai Ringin, Serian, Sarawak. Masih terasa lagi penat dan lenguh-lenguh kat sendi ni. Dah dua hari dah buat fieldtrip kat Balai Ringin ni (dalam bot pulak tu). Baru hari ni terasa nak update gambar fieldtrip kat hantujeraul blogspot, fotopages ngan photobucket. Sambil tu sempat gak post gambo Balai Ringin ni kat forum Cari tu.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Dua hari naik bot ...bila dah kat darat ni terasa cam naik bot jugak.... dalam dua hari tu jugak hantujeraul kena hujan. Demam rasanya kut esok..... Biasalah, dah namanya kerja.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Gothics in Malaysia?

Anak2 Melayu Terpengaruh Dgn Budaya Gothic korang ade prasan tak.. (kat KL la especially) ade sekumpulan bebudak nih yg pakai baju sepesen. Kaler pon takat itam + putih.. ataupon hitam + merah. so kat bwh nih ade gambar2 derang tgh wat perjumpaan secara besar-besaran. kat mane kite tak pasti.. dr gambar.. nampak cam kat Berjaya Times Square. nih gambar2 kite dpt dr email. korang tgk la sendiri ye.

Defining an ideology of the gothic subculture is difficult for several reasons. First is the overwhelming importance of mood for those involved. This is, in part, inspired by romanticism and neoromanticism. The allure for goths of dark, mysterious, and morbid imagery and mood lies in the same tradition. The rise of Romanticism's gothic novel during the 19th century saw feelings of horror being commercially exploited as a form of mass entertainment, a process continued in the modern horror film. Balancing this emphasis on mood, the other central element of the subculture is a conscious sense of camp theatricality or self-dramatization.
The second impediment to defining a gothic ideology is goth's sometimes apolitical nature. While individual defiance of social norms was a very risky business in the nineteenth century, today it is far less socially radical. Thus, the significance of goth's subcultural rebellion is limited, and it draws on imagery at the heart of Western culture. Unlike the hippie or punk movements, the goth subculture has no pronounced political messages or cries for social activism. The subculture is marked by its emphasis on individualism, tolerance for (sexual) diversity, a strong emphasis on creativity, tendency toward intellectualism, a dislike of social conservatism and a strong tendency towards cynicism, but even these ideas are not common to all goths. Goth ideology is based far more on aesthetics than ethics or politics.
However, goths may have political leanings ranging from left-liberal to anarchist or libertarian, but do not show them as part of a cultural identity. Instead, political affiliation is seen as a matter of personal conscience. Unlike punk, there are few clashes with political affiliation and being "goth".
For the individual goth, joining the subculture can be extremely valuable and personally fulfilling, especially in creative terms. However, it also can be risky, especially for the young, because of the negative attention it can attract. The value that young people find in the movement is evidenced by its continuing existence after other subcultures of the eighties such as the New Romantics have long since died out. Paul Hodkinson's book, Goth: Identity, Style and Subculture, explores how the Western cult of individualism, usually expressed via consumerism, is drawn on by goths and other subcultural groups. Many who are drawn to the culture have already failed to conform to the norms of existing society, and for its participants the gothic subculture provides an important way of experiencing a sense of community and validation not found in the outside world. Hodkinson shows how inside the gothic subculture status can be gained via enthusiastic participation and creativity, in creating a band, DJ-ing, making clothes, designing, creating art, or writing a fanzine. He suggests that the self-conscious artificiality of a subculture is a valid alternative choice in a post-modern world, compared to submitting to the invisible manipulations of popular consumerism and the mass media.

Sarawak Regatta

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So many things to say but yet so difficult to say them. But my I must write something for my blogs. What about the history of Sarawak Regatta. Ok lah.....
Other than known as the Land of Perfection (Darul Hana) during the Brunei Sultanate Period and now the Land of Hornbills, Sarawak is also known as the Land of Many Rivers. Certainly there are countless rivers, small and big ones, criss-crossing the largest state in Malaysia and playing important roles in the history and culture of its 24 ethnic groups. There are too many toponymns which derive their name from rivers including the name of the state, Sarawak. The capital city, Kuching, gets its name from a small river that no longer visible which once rose from the hill called Mata Kuching where trees known as mata kuching (not mata pusa) were found and its fruits said to resemble mata kuching (cat’s eyes). This simply shows how intricate the relationship between man and his rivers is in Sarawak.
In many ways, the link between men and the rivers are served by the boats. Until very recently rivers and boats are the major means of transportation and communication among big towns, small towns, villages and longhouses. If it could be called so, the climax of the intricate relationship of rivers and men with their boats was the annual regattas organized practically by all districts in Sarawak in the not so distant past when roads and cars were still rare and few. The annual regattas of the past were more than just boat racing but they were grand social events including peace celebrations, cultural performances and development exhibitions rolled into one big festivals. The famous regatta in Sarawak was known as the Baram Regatta first held in 1899 in Marudi. But it was not the first. As the available historical records are concerned, the first regatta was held in January 1871 in Kuching known as the Sarawak Regatta. Practically every other district towns throughout the state followed and turned the regattas into great annual social event until the advent of more cars, planes and fast boats in 1970s.
The first Baram Regatta in 1899 in Marudi perhaps epitomized to the timeless value of regattas in Sarawak. The chief architects of the Baram Regatta was no other than the Resident, Charles Hose whose reminiscene could be found in his book, the Natural Man.
“Some thirty years ago it was my privilege to be present at a meeting at Marudi (Claudetown) in the Baram district, and in the presence of an overwhelming force of the tribes loyal to the Government of Sarawak, of all those tribes whose allegiance was still doubtful, and all those who were still at a variance with each other. The object was to abolish old bloodfeuds and persuade the tribes to aid the Government in keeping the peace. In calling this conference, I felt that in order to suppress fighting and headhunting, the normal young Bornean’s natural outlet, it would be well to replace them by some other equally violent, but less disastrous, activity; and I therefore suggested to the tribes a sort of loca Henley, the chief feature of which would be annual race between the war-canoes of all the villages. The proposal was taken up eagerly by the people, and months before the appointed day, they were felling the giants of the forest and carving out from them the great war-canoes that were to be put to this novel use, and reports were passing from village to village of the stupendous dimensions of this or that canoe, and the fineness of timber and workmanship of another.
Between the people living on the banks of the two rivers, the Baram and the Tinjar, hostility which just at this time had been accentuated by the occurrence of a blood-feud between the Kenyahs, a leading tribe of the Baram, and the Lirongs, a powerful tribe of the Tinjar. In addition to these two groups was a large party of Madangs, a famous tribe of fighting men of the central highlands whose hand had hitherto been against every other tribe; and also a large number of Ibans, who more than all the rest are always spoiling for a fight.
The winners were a crew of peaceful down-river folks, who had learnt the art of boat-making from the Malays of the coast; and they owed their victory to the superior build of their ship rather than to superior strength. When they passed the post it was an anxious moment. How would the losers take their beating? Would the winners play the fool, openly exulting and swaggering? If so, they would probably get their heads broken, or perhaps lose them. But they behaved with modesty and discretion. The excitement of the crowds on the bank was great, but it was entirely good-humoured; in the interest of the racing they seemed to have forgotten their feuds. This opportunity was naturally seized to summon everyone to the conference hall. This time they settled down with great decorum, the chiefs all in one group at one side of a central space, and the common people in serried ranks all round about it. In the centre was a huge, gaily-painted effigy of the sacred hornbill, on which were hung thousands of cigarettes of home-grown tobacco wrapped in dried banana leaf.
Many retired and senior civil servants still vividly recalled those so-called ‘good old days”. This is because most if not all available civil servants at the district events would be involved directly in organizing the event. One recalled the caretaker/maker of the boat who would spit all sorts of charms on the boat and forbid anyone from touching it; hence guarded jealously throughout the night. Most importantly, according to the ancient belief, no one should ever touch the front tip of the boat decorated with beautifully carved motifs and images.
In those days, just like racing horses today, boats were given names. Some were simple names but other were outrageously bombastic and long as those which had been found in some old programmes books and the old faithful Sarawak Gazette, viz. Burong Raja Wali Senang Hati (Happy Kingfisher) owned by Bujang Kontoi, Seri Bulan Pelandok Dara (Moon Virgin Mousedeer) owned by T>K> Senusi, Bendera Baru Note Sarawak (Flag New Note Sarawak) owned by Ason anak Lawat, Singa Terbang Kendawang Gronggong (Flying Lion?) owned by S.P.G. Rimbas. A few simple and futuristic such as Merdeka owned by Hassan Bros in 1951 and Tidak Disangka owned by Madenah Melayu in 1955. Many reflected the situation of the times such as Usaha Berjaya (Successful Effort); and Muhibbah (Harmony) that raced in the 1970 regatta.
Paddling through the past one could contemplate that it was the harmonious (Muhibbah) relationship between men, settlements and river that the people of Sarawak found in regattas. Such a relationship will guide us as Sarawakians paddle into the future.

The Contender 2 : "K9" defeat Walter to Advance

Contender Bundrage Outmuscles Wright to Advance
Underdog Cornelius "K9" Bundrage advanced to the final four of The Contender by roughing up and outhustling the less experienced Walter Wright. Bundrage was warned several times for holding but was never deducted a point. Wright has an impressive jab but didn't seem to use it enough to keep Bundrage from smothering him.
ESPN's editing of the fight was awful as usual. Countless cutaways from the action to see Wright's girlfriend complaining about K9's holding quickly went from mildly distracting to incredibly annoying. In the end, the judges awarded Bundrage a unanimous decision. It's impossible to question the scoring in The Contender series because viewers never see enough of the action to reach their own conclusions. Perhaps that's by design?

Bundrage joins Steve Forbes in the final four. Both remaining quarterfinal bouts - Gary Balletto vs. Norberto Bravo and Michael Stewart vs. Grady Brewer - will be shown in next weeks' double-header episode. The Contender tournament was taped in January and February but concludes with a live 10-round bout on Sept. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. At least fight fans will get to see one fight broadcast in real time rather than in the butchered versions displayed throughout the rest of the series.

Only six fighters still have a shot at the $500,000 grand prize. Who do you think will win?

Sekarang baru aku puas hati sebab si Walter yang eksen tu dah takder kat akademi Contender tu... hweeeehehehehhe...

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin killed

BRISBANE, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition, Australian media said. He was 44.
Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when the accident occurred, Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.
The Australian Broadcasting Corp. said Irwin was diving near Low Isles Reef near the resort town of Port Douglas, about 1,260 miles north of the state capital of Brisbane.
Queensland ambulance service spokesman Bob Hamil confirmed that a diver had been killed by a stingray off Lowe Isles Reef but refused to say who the victim was until relatives had been notified. A rescue helicopter was sent from the nearby city of Cairns, and paramedics from it confirmed the diver's death.
"The probable cause of death is stingray strike to the chest," Hamil said.

Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan di Kuching.

Tanggal 31 Ogos 2006, Sekali lagi kita menyambut ulangtahun kemerdekaan Negara. Rasanya inilah kali kedua Sarawak menjadi tuan rumah Sambutan Hari Kemerdekaan Kebangsaan.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Aku pun tergolong dalam kategori tu jugak , sambil membawa kamera. Hehehe ... Aku sampai kat Padang Merdeka malam tu, dalam pukul 10.30 malam. Ingatkan aktiviti dijalankan kat situ, tapi rupa-rupanya di Kuching Waterfront. Malam tu aku hanya sempat ambil gambar dan video semasa operari mercun bermula. Malas aku nak pegi Waterfront. Gerenti full house. Lepas jam 12.30 malam... dan manusia-manusia yang lain beransur pulang aku pun blah ikut member pergi merempit plak kat Masja ... Jam 3 pagi baru aku balik tido.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Bangun pukul 9.30 ... alamak tak dapatlah aku nak ambil photo sambutan kat Padang Merdeka plak ... Aisehhh ... Pukul 10.40 baru aku sampai kat Padang Merdeka ... ambil gambar apa-apa yang patut. Orang lain ambil gambar masa upacara berlangsung, aku pulak masa dah habis upacara ... heheheheh .....
