Enough to make cops teary-eyed

The pong of onions caused some teary eyes among police helping to clear the road after a 14-wheel trailer overturned on the Elite highway near the Shah Alam toll plaza at Batu 3, Shah Alam.

Hundreds of sacks of onions tumbled onto the road at 11am yesterday. Co-driver Tan Ah Bah, 63, said the driver lost control at a sharp turn. "Right after coming out of the toll, the turn was too sharp.

How can I explain what happened?

The whole thing just flipped," he said. While both suffered only minor injuries, the driver was taken to a nearby hospital for outpatient treatment.

The onions were being transported from Klang to Penang.

Traffic police at the scene said the trailer had probably been speeding when it overturned.
