Education Loan for Malaysian

Yayasan Sarawak - EDUCATIONAL LOAN SCHEME

This scheme is introduced in 1972 to assist students studying at the various public local institutions of higher learnings (IPTA). It is then extended to students studying in private institutions [IPTS) provided that the course they undertake is a franchised/twinning program from the IPTAs.

Objectives:

To assist students from Sarawak in pursuing their studies without any hitches.
To enable them to continue their studies without worrying about their financing aspect.
To encourage students to focus their energies in their studies thus achieving excellence in academics.

Application:

Fill out and complete the Educational Loan Scheme Form.
Forms can be obtained from: The Sarawak Foundation's Office, all Resident and District offices, Divisional Education Department and also institutions of higher learnings.
Supporting documents: Certified photocopies of public exams certificates, offer letter and result slip (for current students in IPTAs/IPTS) and other relevant documents.
Date of applying for this scheme will be advertised in local newspapers.

Process:
Duly completed forms will be processed and assessed base on the following criteria:

Applicant's sosio-economics
Academics
Type of course
Year of studies
Result
Students will be duly notified of the outcome of their application.

Other features of the scheme:
1. Practical Loan Scheme:

To cater for current recipients of the above scheme who undergoes practical training during their semester break and does not receive any allownces from any party. this scheme provides for their daily allowances.

2. Additional Loan Scheme:
To cater for current recipients of the above scheme who are required to finish their study outside the stipulated period due to unavoidable circumstances in order that they may complete their studies.

Thesis Loan:
To cater for students doing their degrees to prepare on their project papers or thesis. To qualify for this loan, applicants must show proof that it's a compulsory requirement by the relevant IPTs. Amount of loan approved is RM500.00.

Upgrading Loan:
To cater for current recipients of our Educational Loan Scheme who are offered to continue their studies by their respective IPTs from diploma to degree level consecutively.

Yayasan Sabah Education Loan

Responsible for processing applications for students’ loans every year, publishing all offer letters, monitoring students academic performance, co-ordinating and releasing payment for students.

1. What is Yayasan Sabah Study Loan?

It is financial assistance in loan form offered to students furthering their studies at public and private universities and in ASEAN / Middle East Countries only.

2. What are the courses offered under this study loan programme?

Any courses taken by the students provided those courses are certified by LAN (National Accreditation Board).

3. Loan Amount ( within the country and overseas):

• LOAN (within the country)
Public Universities:
- Diploma: -RM4,000.00
- First degree/Advanced Diploma: -RM6000.00
- PhD / Master’s degree: -RM8,000.00
Private Universities
- Diploma and first degree: -RM2,000.00 - RM12,000.00
Outside Campus:
- First degree: -RM4,500.00
- Master’s degree: -RM8,000.00
Kolej Yayasan Sabah:
- Diploma: -RM7,000.00

•LOAN (overseas)
- ASEAN/Middle East: - RM8,000.00 - RM15,000.00

4. How payment is done?

- For public universities, UiTM, Kusza and Polytechnics, payment is made two times in a year. Payment for the first semester in Oct-Dec and second semester in Feb-March.
- For private colleges/outside campus/ASEAN and Middle East, payment is made once a year.
- Payment is only made to student who submitted their exam result slip.

5. When is the Loan Sponsorship offer published?

The loan application form can be obtained at the price of RM3.00 at all Yayasan Sabah Zone’s offices, Yayasan Sabah Kuala Lumpur Branch office and Yayasan Sabah Headquarters Complex, Kota Kinabalu.

6. How to apply and obtain the loan application form?

7. Who is qualified to apply?

- Malaysians born in Sabah
- Either mother or father must be born in Sabah

8. Which applicants are given priority during the selection process?

- Students who come from poor family backgrounds
- Students from rural areas
- Students whose parents have many other children that are still schooling
- Orphaned students

9. Selection criteria used by Yayasan Sabah.

- Low income
- Lots of responsibility(children to bear, raise and feed)
- Academic achievement
- Still studying / getting a place at public university
- Courses taken are courses that can guarantee their future

10. What should be done by successful applicants?

- Read and understand the forms attached
- Complete 4 copies of the loan form
- Stamp and chop the loan form for official purposes

All offers for university level will be announced on the radio and published in local dailies in the month of March every year or right after SPM results are announced by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. Forms can be obtained at Yayasan Sabah Headquarters Complex or any Yayasan Sabah Zones Administration Offices.

11. When does a lender start to repay the loan?

Six months after completing their studies. Monthly installment payment amount and repayment period will be determined based on the loan amount and age level.

Kedah Higher Education Loan (Pinjaman Pelajaran Tinggi Kedah)

ELIGIBILITY

- Applicant is born in Kedah State or one of the parents (Father or Mother) is born in Kedah State.

- Received an offer from a LOCAL institution

- FULL TIME studies for the level of certificate, diploma, first degree, masters and PhD.

- Not receiving any other sponsorship.

- Pursue the studies in the institution of higher learning which is sponsored.

Perak Higher Education Loan (Pinjaman Pengajian Tinggi Perak)

REQUIREMENTS FOR PERAK HIGHER EDUCATION LOAN

1. Applicant is a resident of His Majesty Paduka Seri Sultan of Perak
2. Either the applicant, father or mother was born in Perak.
3. Applicants age on 1st Of July currrent year:
3.1 Diploma - not exceeding 26 years old or 41 years old for government servant.
3.2 Degree - not exceeding 36 years old or 41 years old for government servant.
4. Enrolled for full time course in Diploma or Degree
4.1 (Please refer to the list of sponsored institutions)
5. Did not accept any sponsorship/loan from any party.
6. All copy of documents are certified.
7. Incomplete form or/and application after closing date will automatically be rejected.
8. In the case you did not receive any notifications after 3 months of the closing, your application is considered to be unsuccessful.

Yayasan Selangor Education Loan (Selangor Foundation)

Yayasan Selangor Education Loan was introduced in 1984 to aid the Selangor students in furthering their studies to local and overseas institution of higher learning.

Currently, the Yayasan Selangor Education Loan focuses on sponsoring students in local public and private institutions of higher learning for Certificate, Diploma and First Degree levels.

Yayasan Selangor will advertise before the offer for education loan is opened. Application forms can be obtained from the Yayasan Selangor Headquarters Office in Petaling Jaya.

Requirements:
- Applicant/Mother/Father born in Selangor state
- Residents of more than 10 years can be considered
- Applicant has obtained a full time offer in public institution of higher learning, INPENS International College, UNISEL, IKYS or KUIS.
- Applicant is not receiving any sponsorship or financial aid from other sponsoring bodies
- Priority is given to applicant from family with low income

Application Process:
- Advertisement for the education loan offer is in the month of January and July every year.
- Release of application forms
- Interview
- Offer and signing of agreement
- The loan is paid to the Education Institution's Treasurer or directly to the applicants

Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) Covertible Loan

Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) invites qualified Malaysians to apply for educational assistance in the form of covertible loans to pursue Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) programmes for the June 2008 intake.

Chang Ming Thien Foundation

When the Foundation officially commenced its operations in 2004,a total of RM 3 million was allocated for the first batch of 240 students for higher education in local and overseas institutions of higher learning. Due to good response, the foundation approved interest-free study loans for 301 students in 2005 totaling RM3.82 million. Each successful applicant was given a loan of RM4,000 per year. They are to repay the loan after 4 months of their graduation for the term of 5 years.

Being an apolitical establishment, the criteria guideline for the loan application of the fund are students from the poor families with good results regardless of race to undertake further studies abroad such as Taiwan, Ukraine, Russia, China, Australia, Singapore, USA, Canada, Indonesia and New Zealand etc.

INVITATION FOR APPLICATION OF STUDY LOANS
Applications for study loans are invited for consideration by the Foundation.

Eligibility

1. An applicant shall be a Malaysian citizen of 18 years or above;

2. An applicant shall have gained admission into a local or overseas institution of higher learning approved and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, the National Accreditation Board (LAN), the Public Services Department, or the Foundation to pursue an undergraduate course or above approved by the Foundation ; and

3. The Application shall be supported by relevant documents including proof of financial constraints.

Application

1. The application shall be made in the form prescribed by the Foundation and subject to its Regulations. The application form and Regulations can be obtained from the Foundation Secretariat at MCA Headquarters, 9th Floor, Wisma MCA, 163 Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur. ECM Libra Foundation (Loan/Scholarship)

The ECM Libra Foundation is funded by the Founders of ECM Libra to provide underprivileged and deserving Malaysian students with financial assistance for education. The Foundation is committed to helping needy students obtain a higher education regardless of race, religion or creed.

Financial Assistance Program offered by the Foundation
The ECM Libra Foundation invites applications from eligible Malaysian students for its Study Loan and Scholarship Program 2006.

The program provides study loans to eligible applicants. Scholarship grants are awarded on an exceptional basis.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
• be Malaysian citizens;
• prove eligibility for financial assistance, as means testing will be strictly applied;
• have good academic record and be active in extra curricular activities;
• have gained admission into an approved local college or university for a professional or vocational course.
